GDPR Regime – . IN Domain Name Registrants – Be Vigilant

We have been informed by some of the domain name owners that few of their domain names are masked , perhaps part of testing  of the GDPR implementation.  If you notice any such changes on your names , keep us posted or comment on this blog.

Registarant details are updated / likely to be updated similar to the one below.
Registrant ID:GDPRMask270
Registrant Name:GDPR Masked
Registrant Organization:GDPR Masked
Registrant Street1:GDPR Masked
Registrant Street2:GDPR Masked
Registrant Street3:GDPR Masked
Registrant City:GDPR Masked
Registrant State/Province:GDPR Masked

Registrant Country:US

On a different note, many of the .IN registrants are notified OUR.in  that  when they have initiated the domain transfers, approver emails are not triggering to the domain name owner like earlier times , if the auth code / domain secret is right and the domain name is unlocked.. domain name status is changing to “Pending Transfer” with immediate effect.  So no more emails to domain name owners requesting their approval.  This increases the potential of domain names theft.  I strongly advise you to be more vigilant and ensure all of your names are locked at your current registars to prevent the domain theft.

  1. So far the domain registrants reported this observation are from european union. GDPR is the privacy regulation made by European union for EU residents. So i believe at least the masking work will complete for the EU who is details. It will be interesting to see how this will change in coming days for rest of the registrants too.

    • Thanks for sharing. It’s interesting to see the Facebook.in domain name who is getting masked.. its a USA registered corporation.

  2. Who is privacy has implemented at registry level for all domain names with effective date of 01/June/2018. Now only three fields (Registrant Organisation, Registrant State and Registrant Country) related to registrant will be visible. Rest of all information such as registrant name, registrant address are now hidden from access.

Per example , for Amazon.in we can see the below.

    Registrant Organization: Amazon Technologies, Inc.
    Registrant State/Province: NV
    Registrant Country: US
