Google got so many complaints against the search results which is showing the content from the same domain name. For a response to the complaints, it is limiting the number of listings from one domain in a given search to two.

Google’s head of search spam, Matt Cutts, said that if your domain name is already shown thrice or four times in search results than subsequent pages will show fewer results for your domain name.

Reasons for the owners creating websites under the same domain name

Domain clustering

  • Earlier there were no restrictions on the search results per domain name that resultant in domain clustering.
  • Google added “host clustering,” that allowed to show more than 2 results per domain name in search results.
  • Then its expansion to show from 2 to 3 or 4 results on per similar domain name.
  • Later it limited to show more diversity on the first page and less on the second pages. You can still find some results from the same domain name in secondary pages.

This may impact on site owners, they may miss out some traffic to some of their websites, but giving chance to others is also as necessary as one should have to get the minimum traffic to their websites.

This may also lead to the Business owners to create a lot of different sites to reach out to their traffic. With effect to this, we can expect more domain name registrations through different registrars to happen in the coming days.
