ASMR stands for Autonomous Sensory Meridian Response. It is highly addicting content in India since last year mostly in Mizoram, Nagaland, and Meghalaya according to Google Trends.

ASMR is an experience characterized by a static-like or a tingling sensation on the skin that starts on the scalp and moves down the back of the neck and upper spine.

This is popular in the US for 9 years when Jennifer Allen, a cybersecurity professional, came up with the term otherwise it was called as the “brain tingles” or “brain orgasms”.
As it is becoming a trend the content creators making videos for ASMR and earning $10,000 and $15,000 per video from YouTube.

The sounds made in this kind of videos such as hairbrush brushing against the scalp, a Scotch-Brite scrubbing against a vessel, the crunching sound from eating food items, etc are made to help people from anxiety-prone and to feel relax. It also helps the insomniacs to fall asleep.

As per the ET, there are five billion views for videos hashtagged #ASMR on TikTok and 7.4 million posts on Instagram. Currently, google’s search result for ASMR gives over 98 million video search results in 0.32 seconds. ASMR obsession is among the young adults’ age group between 18-20.
